MY APPROACH
I work from an attachment lens, a therapeutic approach that acknowledges that who we are and how we show up in relationship with our selves and others is a product of our unique histories, experiences and determinations. With both couples and individuals, I primarily utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy. I find that this approach results in sessions with clients that are engaging, enlightening and offer progress and insight.
I approach every client with the humble acknowledgement that you are the expert of you. I offer curiosity, my clinical training, and the client-therapist alliance to help look into dark corners and puzzles and bring illumination and understanding into the room.
I firmly believe in my clients’ individuality and the space I create for exploration and healing is one we build collaboratively.
MY EDUCATION
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University Sacramento. I graduated from Alliant International University with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and began working with individuals and couples, where I have found my career to be a perfect fit.
My additional training certification to better serve clients include:
Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship
Level 1 Brainspotting
Systemic Affair Recovery
Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)
Additionally, I am the founder and developer of Menopause-Informed Therapy, a therapeutic approach and lens to navigating the individual and relational distress often experienced during the perimenopause & menopause transitions. In searching for a way to better assist my clients experiencing the impact of this time of life, I found there was very little, so I created it. You can read more here.
I grew up in the greater Sacramento area, in a family of local business owners and artists in the symphony and theatre communities. I hold precious memories of my family time together, particularly of the weekend poker games that lasted hours on end and were punctuated with raucous laughter from the inspired high-and-low brow jokes my family loved to indulge in.
After school I moved around California, settling in Los Angeles where I met my future husband, before returning to Sacramento to begin our life together. We are proud parents to our teen and enjoy traveling, experiencing new places and cultures through food (New Orleans Creole and Cajun cuisines are top favorites), playing board and card games, and introducing our kid to our favorite 80s movies and music. I enjoy my personal downtime with reading, cooking, baking, embroidery crafts, singing loudly in the car, and planning our next traveling adventures. Spending time together with family, chosen-family and friends is where I always want to be, and I strongly believe in the curative power of a good belly laugh.
My pronouns are she/her/hers.
